ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Join world-class experts in finding answers to our customers’ toughest questions as a Customer Service Specialist. Ocean’s customer service organization is designed to accelerate and support our entire customer base. As a Customer Service Specialist, you will often be the first and last interaction our customers have with Ocean, working directly with customers, sales, engineering, and operations to support a smooth customer experience from inquiry through delivery. You will partner with customers to understand their needs, book customer orders, coordinate order scheduling, and support service offerings like repairs and calibration. You will also work closely with the internal team to continuously improve the customer experience. This is a Temp to Hire position based out of our San Mateo, CA office.

Through a natural curiosity and passion for servicing our customers, the successful candidate will:

  • Book customer orders accurately and support the full order process from entry through delivery.

  • Act as a key customer contact and ensure timely, professional communication.

  • Coordinate with Sales, Operations, Finance, Production, Shipping, and the global Customer Service team to support customer needs.

  • Support service-related customer requests, including repairs, calibrations, and follow-up communication.

  • Build strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.

  • Work closely with the team to improve processes and deliver a better customer experience.

  • Maintain accurate customer and order information in the relevant systems.

  • Other duties as assigned.

ABOUT THE CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate brings a natural curiosity, a passion for customer service, and genuinely enjoys interacting with customers and working closely with people. A “can-do” attitude, collaborative spirit, and flexible work style are also essential in this role. This person should be a self-starter and bring strong experience supporting customers’ needs.

  • 2+ years of experience managing customer orders, order processing, and customer interactions with a proven track record of success.

  • Experience with Salesforce, Office 365, and D365.

  • Self-starter with a track record of exceptional performance and goal achievement.

  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a genuine love for customer interaction and working with people.

  • Enjoys working in a global team environment and collaborating with colleagues and customers across different cultures.

  • Excellent skills in planning, communication, analytical capabilities, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, navigate uncertain situations, and drive for clarity.

  • Strong bias for action, a high sense of urgency, and the ability to drive results.

  • High standard of ethics and integrity.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.

  • Fluency in English.

COMPENSATION

The base salary range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and work location, in accordance with the applicable law. If converted to a permanent position, the role will be eligible to participate in the company's variable compensation plan, subject to the achievement of company performance goals, and will also be eligible for company benefits.
