Job Description

AM Shift: Monday - Friday 7:00AM - 3:30PM

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 an hour depending on experience

As a Tool Designer you will:

Perform design and tooling manufacturing activities within the tool design department and maintain tooling design conformity that meets or exceeds customer requirement. Perform design activity on assembly and shop tooling to be produced using conventional machining techniques as well as rapid prototyping. Supports the department and business as a whole with shop floor, planning, quality, and MRB activities.

What will my responsibilities include?

  • Design assembly and shop tooling
  • Create 2D CAD drawings and layouts
  • Support shop floor technical inquiries (Drawing and spec interpretations)
  • Contribute to design improvements
  • Contribute to cost reduction efforts
  • Support 5S + Safety requirements for department
  • Ensure maintenance on all equipment is completed as required
  • Other reasonable duties as business and operational needs dictate
  • Using required PPE for the department

Qualifications

Education:

Associate's degree in engineering or equivalent on the job training

Experience:

5 years tool design in a manufacturing environment using 2D and 3D modeling software

Experience/knowledge of equipment, machines, tools, etc:

  • Rapid prototyping, CMM, hand inspection tools
  • Must be able to communicate and interact with employees at all levels of the organization both verbally and written. Must be fluent in English
  • Basic arithmetic, basic algebra and trigonometry 
  • CAD software, MS Word, MS Excel
  • Requires high ability to assess facts and develop conclusion
  • Solidworks or other equivalent CAD software preferred
