Description
 The Feed Mill Assistant Manager supports the Feed Mill Manager in overseeing daily feed mill operations, ensuring efficient production, accurate inventory control, employee safety, and compliance with quality, environmental, and regulatory standards. This role provides day-shift supervision and leadership while assisting with overall mill operations and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Production
- Supervise day-shift feed mill operations, including computerized batch mixing, grinding, and pelleting processes
- Assist with feed mixing and pellet production as needed to meet delivery schedules
- Ensure accurate tracking and traceability of feed, drugs, and ingredients using lot numbers for incoming and outgoing products
- Maintain inventory records and assist with inventory control and reconciliation
- Provide direction and support to night shift operations to ensure efficiency and continuity
- Learn and operate all aspects of feed mill operations
Maintenance & Facility Management
- Assist with scheduling and coordinating maintenance of milling equipment
- Ensure facilities, equipment, and rolling stock remain in good repair and present a professional image
- Coordinate or assist with truck repairs to ensure timely completion
- Report unsafe equipment or working conditions promptly
- Help prepare the mill for audits and inspections
Safety, Environmental & Regulatory Compliance
- Uphold all cooperative policies and safety programs
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, OSHA, and HACCP regulations
- Coordinate and participate in employee safety meetings as required
- Ensure employees are properly trained in the safe handling of products
- Support environmental compliance programs, documentation, and inspections
Leadership & Employee Support
- Provide daily supervision and guidance to production employees
- Assist with employee performance reviews (twice annually)
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment
- Model cooperative values through professional behavior and communication
Customer Service & Administration
- Support quality control efforts to ensure product specifications are met
- Work with the Feed Mill Manager to coordinate coverage during planned or unplanned absences
- Ensure reports and records are accurately completed and entered into company systems
- Deliver service aligned with Cooperative Farmers Elevator (CFE) core values
Other Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
- Provide support to other departments when needed, maintaining a cooperative and professional attitude

Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
- General computer skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge or background in feed mill operations
Preferred / Required Within Timeframe:
- Class A CDL license (or ability to obtain within 60 days)

- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and use of hands
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment
