Role Overview

Schedule Oil-Dri delivery and pick up appointments with customer base and Oil-Dri plant facilities, primarily GA plant but not strictly such, across the various Divisions of business for both domestics and international business. To accomplish this, the position must interact with production scheduling, transportation resources (internal Logistics team and external companies), customer service and Oil-Dri shipping departments at various plants. This position will be a critical resource to align demand, production and shipping.

 

Work Model

Regular in-person attendance consistent with the Company's established work schedule is an essential function for full-time positions to facilitate effective collaboration, communication, and business operations.

 

This position is based at an active mine site and requires daily onsite presence. Work conditions may include uneven terrain, climbing ladders, navigating steps, and exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, rain, or mud. Monday - Friday onsite required. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages and coordinates rail traffic activities for Oil-Dri including movements within U.S., Mexico and Canada
  • Embraces the culture of the company and works well in a team environment.
  • Responsible for execution of shipping and/or delivery plans to support customer orders with constant interaction with internal/external customer and suppliers.
  • Must interact and schedule delivery appointments with customer and customer carriers proactively and reactively in email, portals, phone, etc.
  • Schedules for customer pickup appointments, when required, in the manner prescribed by customer- both in terms of medium used and timing of activity.
  • Schedule drayage coverage and loading appointments using information from JDE, steamship lines, and Export team.
  • Accomplishes various duties related to Logistics and Scheduling including but not limited to, building loads (domestic and export), entering delivery information, tendering/approving loads, editing load information, ensures correct rate information is entered in JDE, and other load maintenance actions.
  • Daily interaction with Oil-Dri customer service team on status and changes to orders. This is both ongoing and in daily status review meetings.
  • Maintains appointment schedules online and uses online schedule report to load-level dock activity- this includes requesting and monitoring preload activity when applicable.
  • Interacts with production scheduling team on priorities and plans when production issues arise. 
  • Develop methods to provide most desirable delivery and pickup appointments across different lanes and dates. 
  • Supports all functions listed here across multiple plant sites as directed.
  • Develop and manage service metrics in JDE and/or customer platforms.
  • Develop, document and maintain standard operating procedures and work instructions within assigned area.
  • Achieve SMART goal objectives and report ongoing results/progress to management.
  • Completes special projects as requested in a manner that does not impact day-to-day responsibilities
  • Perform other such duties as may be required

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • 2-3 years Logistics / supply chain management experience, with a proven track record of success. 
  • Logistics experience or College Grad.
  • Degree not required.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Internet aptitude: particularly to learn customer portal applications
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and team building skills
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Strong problem-solving skill sets.
  • Familiarity with shipping agent portals required to obtain any needed information regarding a shipment
  • Capable of success working independently
