Job Title: Shop Technician

Summary
The Shop Technician supports DHI’s fabrication and operations teams by assembling, repairing, staging, and maintaining equipment used across field operations. This hands-on role is responsible for mechanical assembly, material handling, equipment preparation, and shop organization to ensure assets are safe, reliable, and job-ready. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced fabrication shop environment with frequent physical activity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Shop & Fabrication Operations
- Assemble, install, and repair industrial machinery and equipment in a fabrication shop environment.
- Install piping systems, valves, fittings, motors, pumps, and related mechanical components.
- Fabricate and repair equipment using hand and power tools, including cutting, grinding, drilling, and measuring tools.
- Support welding operations by assisting welders, preparing materials, and staging work areas.
- Participate in project preparation including material staging, layout planning, and workspace organization.
Equipment Handling & Logistics
- Safely operate forklifts, skid steers, and overhead cranes to move, position, and stage heavy materials and equipment.
- Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment using company vehicles as needed.
- Occasionally travel to field sites to assist with equipment installation, maintenance, or repair.
Maintenance & Housekeeping
- Perform general shop labor, including lifting and handling materials up to 75 lbs.
- Maintain shop tools, equipment, and vehicles to ensure proper operation and preventive maintenance.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety and operational standards.
Safety Responsibilities
- Follow all DHI safety policies, procedures, and job-specific safety requirements.
- Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Safely perform lifting, rigging, and material-handling operations, including overhead crane use.
- Adhere to lockout/tagout procedures when servicing or maintaining equipment.
- Maintain awareness of hazards related to shop equipment, power tools, welding operations, and elevated work areas.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, near-misses, or equipment issues to supervision.
- Participate in safety meetings, training, and toolbox talks as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingnessÂ
