Reimagine What’s Possible 



Air Products is seeking an experienced Operations Technician to join its team at the Odessa, TX facility.

The Odessa site operates an Air Separation Unit (ASU) that produces medical-, food-, and industrial-grade nitrogen. Liquid nitrogen is delivered to customers via third-party tanker trailers. The site also supports two HPN onsite plants in San Angelo, Texas, which supply gaseous nitrogen to an onsite customer.

In this role, you will be responsible for controlling and monitoring nitrogen production processes, including utility systems, compressors, rotating equipment, and Distributed Control System (DCS) operations. Key responsibilities include maintaining water chemistry, completing daily operating tasks, and performing preventive maintenance as required.

This is an 8-hour shift position with required rotating on-call coverage for nights and weekends. The role reports to the Site Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks, safety inspections, and plant log readings.
  • Maintain online training program requirements.
  • Maintain water chemistry.
  • Solving plant process upsets using various indicators and DCS trends.
  • Inspect all work areas on a continuous basis for any mechanical problems, safety hazards, and unusual operating conditions. Keep work and storage areas in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
  • Perform troubleshooting on equipment.
  • Issue safety work permits and performs lock out / tag out of various process equipment.
  • Ensure that all plant safety, health, environmental and quality procedures are followed.
  • Attend and contribute to monthly safety meetings.
  • Assist in reviewing and updating operating procedures as required.
  • Dedication to Operational Excellence with a focus on safe and reliable operation.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in operations, maintenance, or monitoring of industrial process plants.
  • Ability to read/understand piping and instrumentation drawings.
  • Electrical, instrument or mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Basic computer proficiency and software knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • A teammate that is flexible and has a positive demeanor.
  • Desire and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Dedication to safety, integrity, and continuous improvement.
  • This is a safety sensitive position.
