MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

DEPARTMENT: Management Services

DIVISION: Fleet & Facilities

PAY: GRADE 125: $48,959.85 - $70,991.78 Annual Salary (Hourly Rate $23.54 - $34.13

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Full-Time, Eligible for Benefits

GENERAL PURPOSE

This position assists in performing semi-skilled and unskilled labor in the construction, maintenance, and related service activities related to Facilities maintenance. Receives direct supervision from the Crew Leader- Facility.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Operate construction and maintenance equipment and power tools. Scissor lifts, forklifts, compressors, generators, chemical sprayers, paint sprayers, etc.
  • Maintain hand tools and assigned equipment; perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Utilize proper safety precautions related to all work performed.
  • Respond to customer inquiries in a courteous manner and provide information within the area of assignment.
  • Document all tasks and projects within the Facilities work order system.
  • Coordinate maintenance and construction activities with outside contractors and other city departments.
  • Resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Perform snow removal and ice control duties as required around facilities.
  • Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive customers' inquiries and complaints.
  • Available for rotating On Call schedule as assigned and/or during other emergency conditions.
  • Be available and physically/mentally capable of working up to 12 hours at a time.
  • Participate in safety and risk management activities; take action to reduce liability to the city.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position. Employee is required to work as a team and frequently meet with co-workers and supervisors; employee is required to communicate in-person with customers during office hours and after when on call; and employee is required to use on-site equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as required/assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • At least two years of general maintenance experience performing facilities maintenance or construction work.
  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid, Utah driver's license.
  • Employee will be required to complete NIMS IS100 and IS700 within six months of hire.
  • Ability to obtain TSA Clearance at the Ogden Airport.
  • Forklift Certified within 30 days of hire.
