MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Full-Time, Eligible for Benefits
GENERAL PURPOSE
This position assists in performing semi-skilled and unskilled labor in the construction, maintenance, and related service activities related to Facilities maintenance. Receives direct supervision from the Crew Leader- Facility.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Operate construction and maintenance equipment and power tools. Scissor lifts, forklifts, compressors, generators, chemical sprayers, paint sprayers, etc.
- Maintain hand tools and assigned equipment; perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Utilize proper safety precautions related to all work performed.
- Respond to customer inquiries in a courteous manner and provide information within the area of assignment.
- Document all tasks and projects within the Facilities work order system.
- Coordinate maintenance and construction activities with outside contractors and other city departments.
- Resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
- Perform snow removal and ice control duties as required around facilities.
- Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive customers' inquiries and complaints.
- Available for rotating On Call schedule as assigned and/or during other emergency conditions.
- Be available and physically/mentally capable of working up to 12 hours at a time.
- Participate in safety and risk management activities; take action to reduce liability to the city.
- Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position. Employee is required to work as a team and frequently meet with co-workers and supervisors; employee is required to communicate in-person with customers during office hours and after when on call; and employee is required to use on-site equipment.
- Perform other related duties as required/assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- At least two years of general maintenance experience performing facilities maintenance or construction work.
- High school diploma or its equivalent.
- Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid, Utah driver's license.
- Employee will be required to complete NIMS IS100 and IS700 within six months of hire.
- Ability to obtain TSA Clearance at the Ogden Airport.
- Forklift Certified within 30 days of hire.
