Position Summary

Nilson Homes is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant / Loan Coordinator to support our accounting and financial reporting functions. This role will split time between construction loan coordination and accounting responsibilities.


The ideal candidate has a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and enjoys working with lenders and team members across multiple departments. Key Responsibilities



Construction Loan Coordinator

  • Coordinate and monitor construction loan requests from contract execution through loan closing.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for lenders, title companies, and internal stakeholders regarding loan-related matters.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records and update internal tracking systems.
  • Schedule and coordinate loan closings with lenders and title companies.
  • Monitor loan status and proactively identify potential delays or issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, lending requirements, and applicable regulations.

Accounting Operations

  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations.
  • Record and verify monthly journal entries.
  • Record job closings and review job-related financial information.
  • Assist with reconciliations of job cost and bank accounts.
  • Manage accounting transactions for smaller, noncorporate companies.
  • Ensure financial data is accurate, complete, and timely.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Assist with annual reporting requirements, including:
    • 1099 preparation and filing
    • Personal property reporting
    • Insurance audits
  • Support internal and external audits as needed.

Budgeting & Process Improvement

  • Partner with the Controller to produce budget reporting and analysis.
  • Help develop, document, and improve accounting processes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.


Qualifications


Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in homebuilding, construction, real estate, or lending environments.
  • Experience with job costing or construction accounting.
  • CPA eligibility or progress toward certification is a plus.
