This position is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and computerized components to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. The employee exercises independent judgment in diagnosing equipment issues, maintains service records, and follows all applicable safety regulations and procedures. Essential job functions: Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform necessary repairs. Diagnose, service, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and computerized systems on heavy equipment. Perform maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, including but not limited to excavators, high-pressure pumps, bulldozers, graders, crawler tractors, trailers, and backhoes. Conduct routine and preventive maintenance, including inspecting, servicing, adjusting, repairing, and replacing fluid systems, hoses, belts, brakes, tires, clutches, filters, lubrication systems, cooling systems, and related components. Repair and service undercarriage, drive train, braking, steering, transmission, hydraulic, and air system components, including track drive sprockets, rails, idler wheels, final drives, steering clutches, hydrostatic transmissions, pumps, valves, compressors, air dryers, brake valves, cylinders, and related equipment. Diagnose, repair, and replace electrical and electronic components, including batteries, wiring, lights, instruments, warning devices, switches, control modules, alternators, starters, and related systems. Perform inspections and operational testing to ensure equipment is safe, reliable, and operating efficiently. Maintain accurate service logs, maintenance records, work orders, and material cost estimates. Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and in safe working condition. Follow all safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations. Must maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing and qualify under the Quapaw Nation Motor Vehicle Policy. QualificationsJob Specifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment, engines, and motorized vehicles. Knowledge of workplace safety procedures related to mechanical repair and maintenance operations. Knowledge of vehicle body and frame construction. Skill in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, jacks, hoists, and other shop equipment. Skill in the use of diagnostic testing and tuning equipment. Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and computerized system failures. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, diagrams, and repair specifications. Ability to communicate effectively regarding equipment conditions, repair needs, and maintenance recommendations. Ability to perform inspections and evaluate the operational condition of heavy equipment. Ability to organize work, prioritize assignments, and complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision. Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years of experience performing heavy equipment, diesel, or service technician-related duties is required. Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Physical Abilities: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform tasks that require reaching above shoulder level. Ability to push, pull, squat, kneel, bend, and safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Visual acuity sufficient to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to travel occasionally for meetings, training, seminars, or professional development opportunities. Working Conditions: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in a maintenance shop and construction site environment. Regular exposure to varying weather conditions, temperature extremes, dust, noise, grease, oils, fuels, and mechanical hazards. Frequent work on uneven surfaces and around moving equipment. Position may require extended work hours, overtime, and emergency repair response as operational needs dictate. Compliance with all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety procedures is mandatory.
