The location for this position is flexible and can be based out of either Brewster or Omak.

PRIMARY ROLE OBJECTIVE:        

To assist the medical team with coordination of patient visits for specialist referrals and authorization for testing as ordered by PCPs, by obtaining outside medical records for patients with upcoming appointments.  Customer service is a critical component of this role, requiring strong communication, empathy and problem-solving skills.

 MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

  1. Communicates health information to patients, support staff, and team members
  2. Answers patient phone calls, documents and communicates processes in Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  3. Relays appropriate information to the patient and medical team via face to face, phone, text, mail or documentation in EHR.
  4. Assists medical team with patient education
  5. Monitors and processes voice mail, EHR messaging and email in a timely manner
  6. Coordinate and assure access to identified areas of care necessary for improved patient health.
  7. Assists patients by scheduling appointments, generating referrals, and obtaining prior authorizations.
  8. Assists patients with access by providing insurance enrollment information, and enrollment to the patient portal.
  9. Maintain flow of documents into and out of EHR 
  10. Triage incoming reports or forms to appropriate recipient for review, action, abstraction or signature
  11. Assist with management of EHR data by obtaining, abstracting, scanning and copying documents needed to complete the daily workflow. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Ability to access and complete data entry in the Electronic Health Records (EHR) program

Ability to access web-based applications and other computer programs.

Fully functional in use of the Electronic Practice Management (EPM) program.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Possesses a basic level of written and verbal communications skills, computational and computer skills and mathematical knowledge typically acquired through completion of a high school program.  The position prefers Spanish/English bilingual fluency.
