Your Opportunity
As a Civil Engineer in Training in our Community Development Group in Okemos, MI, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of innovative and diverse projects from the design of civil and municipal engineering projects for highways and local roads, public utilities and public works, parks, trails, pipelines, tunnels, renewable energy projects and related infrastructure projects. This position involves working collaboratively with design teams in the development of construction plans and specifications; preparing reports, studies, and construction contract documents; computing quantities and preparing cost estimates; performing field observations and assisting in the coordination and management of construction activities.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Perform civil design and technical tasks on projects under the supervision of the Project Manager or Project Engineer.
- Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project.Â
- Perform field work/construction observation under the supervision of a senior engineer/designer and/or construction manager.
- Perform data analysis and calculations to analyze and design civil system components.
- Collect data and gathering information to support design decisions.
- Interpret and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
- Analyze proposed project solutions to ensure reliability, resource efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and written, with project team members, clients, and contractors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
