Shift Hours:

Fri-Sun 5:30am-6:00pm – If OT is mandatory, it’s Mon & Thurs. These are 12-hour days.


SUMMARY 

Determine why warranty or returned core failed; documentation report to management and customer for possible solutions; qualify parts for production; identify assembly errors and make suggestions to improve process; and study specific failure problems or other special projects to improve quality of parts and processes by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Disassemble transmission parts or subassemblies and separate into baskets by model and type.
  • Identify assembly errors and make suggestions to improve process.
  • Study specific failure   problems to other projects to improve quality of parts and process.
  • Operates air impact gun and assorted hand tools to remove bolts, snap rings, screws, rivets or other fasteners to remove parts or subassemblies.
  • Inspect parts and subassemblies for obvious defects or excessive dirt.  Scrap defective parts.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
  • Responsible for development and adherence to the policies, procedures and instructions of the ISO 14001 systems.
  • Clean and perform operator maintenance on assigned equipment.

 

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION 

Must be able to comprehend technical information, read and write legibly.  Must have an understanding of hydraulic and electrical transmission principles and be willing to pursue technical schooling in a timely manner to fulfill requirements for this job.  Must know or be able to learn the operation of the transmission test stand.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

ASQC Certified Mechanical Inspector, ASE Transmission Certification, and/or Certified Quality Technician desirable. 

 

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

Air impact gun, air gun, assorted hand tools, manual and or hydraulic press, go/no-go gauges.

 

MATERIALS

Transmission parts, transmission fluid and dye.
