Job Summary: The Event Sales Coordinator is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and securing new business opportunities that support the Oklahoma City Zoo’s strategic goals. This position drives revenue through group sales and private event bookings while strengthening relationships with clients and promoting Zoo offerings throughout the metro area. The role requires strong communication, sales strategy development, and relationship-building skills, along with the ability to collaborate across multiple internal and external partners.

Employment Status: Full-Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Starting Pay: $19.27-$24.09 Hourly (This position is also eligible for bonus incentives based on event sales performance.)

Experience Required: Three (3) years of experience in a sales or business development position. An equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the duties of the job will be considered.

Minimum Education Requirements: Associate’s degree preferable or experience related to outside sales and development.

Direct Supervisor: Director of Events and Sales

Supervisory Responsibility: Direct (0); Indirect (0) 

Primary Work Location: Office setting both indoors and outdoors, plus travel within the metro.

Certification: Must obtain a valid Oklahoma motor vehicle operator’s license (within thirty days of hire) and pass Driver’s History check to be eligible to operate Zoo vehicles.

Other: Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.

Essential Job Functions

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties:

  • Build and maintain a prospective client pipeline aligned with the Zoo’s strategic goals.
  • Assist director with development of documented sales strategy
  • Prospect and promote OKC Zoo offerings (group admission and private events) to increase revenue and attendance
  • Build connections in the community (e.g., CVB, local chambers) to create new business opportunities. 
  • Attend networking events to build relationships with current and potential clients.
  • Generate new business through cold calling, off-site appointments, networking, and strategic marketing
  • Develop new relationships and strengthen relationships with previous clients to encourage repeat business and growth 
  • Meet pre-determined sales goals and accurately document sales calls, appointments, and transactions using CRM software
  • Collaborate with marketing team on collateral needs and targeted campaigns
  • Collaborate with event execution team on handoff, industry trends, opportunities to enhance offerings, client requests, etc.
  • Work closely with the Zoo’s food and beverage partner and non-profit partner to present cohesive Zoo offerings that best suit client needs.
  • Prepare proposals and invoices, and facilitate venue tours.
  • Review weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales objectives and results, and prepare action plans where improvement is needed.
  • Stay current on industry trends by reading relevant publications and attending seminars and workshops.
