Job Description

As a General Ledger Accountant with OMES you will enjoy:

Job Details

  • Full-time 40-hour work weeks.

  • Support the Central Accounting and Reporting team

  • Salary up to: $55,000 - $60,000 based on education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Process journal entries into the general ledger for all state agencies.  Ensures accuracy and proper authorization for the entry.

  • Process Form 11 reconciliations from agencies, reviewing and comparing PeopleSoft and State Treasurer reports and agency documentation to ensure accuracy and correct balances.  Assists agencies in research and resolving reconciliation issues.

  • Read and analyze state legislation and statutes to determine agency actions and direction; issue written memos based on research.

  • Function as backup for monthly general revenue reconciliation and estimate, processing monthly general revenue appropriation transfers and other monthly transfers.

  • Prepare various annual federal reports.

  • Provides functional support to state agencies in general ledger and accounting issues, including reconciliation of fund balances, various errors, general operating questions.

  • Perform other general ledger team duties, payroll funding corrections, and payroll validation.

  • Assists with developing and maintaining training manuals, documentation and schedules and distributes to the user groups.

  • Monitors and responds to team Service Desk cases to provide timely resolution.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • This position works in a comfortable office setting with a computer for a large percentage of the workday.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually mild.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or a closely related field; and

  • Two (2) years of professional accounting work experience; or

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of education for one year of work experience.

Preference will be given to candidates who possess

  • A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.

  • Good working knowledge of the State of Oklahoma Accounting system, PeopleSoft Financials.

  • Experience with SQL Tools and Developer and intermediate skills with Excel.

  • A strong understanding of accounting principles and statewide accounting policy.

  • Strong reconciliation skills.
