Job DetailsJob Location: OKC Office - Oklahoma City, OK 73104Position Type: Full TimePosition Summary: The Lead Revenue Accountant is responsible for accurate and timely accounting, analysis, and reporting of oil, gas, NGL, and other hydrocarbon revenues. This position serves as a primary subject matter expert and technical resource for complex revenue accounting matters, ownership structures, regulatory requirements and revenue distribution processes. Independently resolves accounting issues, coordinates cross-functional efforts, and supports the development and enhancement of revenue accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. The role requires significant knowledge of oil and gas revenue processes, ownership interests, royalty obligations, severance taxes, and industry reporting requirements. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.   Responsibilities: Revenue Accounting Record, reconcile, and analyze oil, natural gas, NGL, and other revenue transactions, including monthly accruals, account reconciliations, and variance analysis. Review purchaser statements and revenue distribution reports for accuracy and completeness. Review production and revenue volumes and investigate discrepancies with Production Accounting and Marketing personnel. Lead the analysis and resolution of complex revenue accounting issues involving ownership interests, division orders, revenue distributions, suspense balances, and regulatory compliance requirements. Reporting & Compliance Prepare and review severance tax calculations, governmental royalty filings, and other reporting requirements, including ONRR reporting as applicable. Support SOX compliance, maintain effective internal controls, respond to audit requests, and assist with quarterly and annual reporting requirements. Analysis, Systems & Process Improvement Analyze revenue trends, pricing, deductions, transportation costs, production impacts, and significant revenue variances, and prepare supporting variance analysis packages for management review.  Lead process, system, and reporting improvements; system upgrades and testing; and maintain accounting procedures and documentation. Leverage system functionality and data analytics tools to improve efficiency and accuracy. Collaboration & Support Serve as a key contact for royalty owners, working interest owners, auditors, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders regarding revenue accounting matters. Serve as a technical liaison between Production Accounting, Division Orders, Land, Legal, Operations, and Financial Reporting teams to resolve revenue issues and support business objectives. Provide training, mentoring, and technical guidance to accountants and other stakeholders regarding revenue accounting processes and requirements. Complete special projects and ad hoc analyses as assigned.   Skills and Competencies: Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills, including PivotTables, lookups, and analysis of large data sets. Strong understanding of oil and gas revenue accounting principles, industry practices, and regulatory requirements. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and build productive cross-function relationships.   Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 8+ years of progressive oil and gas revenue accounting experience. Strong understanding of oil and gas revenue accounting principles, including revenue distribution, division orders, ownership interests, severance taxes, and State and Federal regulatory reporting requirements.     Preferred Qualifications: CPA or CPA candidate. Experience with Texas and New Mexico properties. Experience with ONRR, BLM, or related regulatory reporting. Experience with Quorum, Enverus, or similar oil and gas accounting systems.
