Mechanic II

Summary

The Mechanic II is responsible for maintaining and repairing all equipment, piping systems, valves, and machinery associated with the company’s operation facilities. The Mechanic II reports to the Plant Manager. This is a full-time, non-union position and is located in Oklahoma City, OK.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe working conditions in accordance with established company policies.
• Identify, report and/or correct unsafe work environments.
• Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by assisting in preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.

• Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.

• Operate all hand/power tools in a competent manner.
• Install, repair, replace, and trouble shoot plant equipment to include piping systems, valves, traps, pumps and boilers.
• Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled.

• Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Exercise caution in the use and maintenance of all company equipment.

• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Must be able to work overtime as required.

Basic Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in equipment operations and maintenance or related experience
• Working knowledge of the principles of boiler and chilled water plant operations

Other Qualifications

• Oklahoma State High Pressure Boiler License or ability to obtain Class II Operator License after beginning employment.
• Ability to weld.

• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, and computers.

Physical Requirements 

• Must submit to company provided pre-employment physical exam and drug screening.

• Must possess a valid driver license in good standing in order to operate a company vehicle. Must have and maintain a driving record meeting the standards of the company.

• Ability to lift and maneuver up to and including 50 pounds
• Ability to work in confined spaces such as boilers, tanks and manholes
• Ability to climb vertical ladders up to 50 feet
• Ability to tolerate heat in an industrial production plant environment
