The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) is seeking a full-time QA Laboratory Assistant II. This is a state position governed by the Civil Service Rules, in state government located in Oklahoma City, OK.  OMMA offers a comprehensive benefits packet, including a generous benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents. The annual salary for this position is $50,000 based on education and experience.

Basic Purpose
Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities for supporting laboratory operations, performing maintenance functions, and completing non-technical routine laboratory tests and procedures under the direction of professional staff. This position will receive, accession, and evaluate if all required information is provided with the sample as well as assist technical personnel with testing.
Typical Functions
Performs routine laboratory procedures such as preparation of media and samples.
Conducts non-technical routine laboratory tests and procedures under the direction of professional staff.
Sets up and operates laboratory equipment in preparation for sample examinations.Â
Assesses the suitability of samples and prepares them for analysis.
Opens, separates, accessions, and arranges specimens for laboratory examination and trace results.
Maintains laboratory records including receipt of samples.
Enters data into the laboratory computer system accurately and in accordance with laboratory requirements.
Assists technical staff in promotion of all laboratory duties.
Maintains laboratory equipment and supplies by cleaning and maintaining quality assurance records.
Maintains a clean and sanitary work area in accordance with standard laboratory practice and procedures.
Follows all safety procedures and maintains safety equipment, as needed.
Supports the quality objectives of the laboratory.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of one year of experience in laboratory work performing laboratory procedures; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one college-level laboratory science course for each six months of the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
One year experience working in a laboratory setting.
One year of experience utilizing a laboratory information management system.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of the maintenance of routine records and reports, and of elementary laboratory techniques and safety precautions. Ability is required to perform basic laboratory tasks; to keep specimens properly marked; to maintain adequate written laboratory records; and to utilize a computer.Â
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Work is typically performed in both an office setting and laboratory setup for required benchwork in climate-controlled settings and exposure to moderate noise level experiencing long periods of sitting or standing. While performing the duties of the job, employee will encounter hazardous chemicals in controlled environments and will have the ability to wear impermeable clothing and footwear for the duration of the work period. The employee is required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms, bend, and squat. Employee must also be able to meet the physical requirements of lifting/carrying up to 40lbs.
