Description

The YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City is looking for great candidates to join our Y Clubhouse team at three locations in the Oklahoma City Housing Authority communities. The Y Clubhouse provides after school and summer programming for school age kids. We offer meals, homework help, games, crafts, and other activities for kids within their own communities.


POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • Y Clubhouse Program Staff will be directly responsible for the safety, supervision, leadership and guidance for a group of youth participants during program.
  • This role promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall experience.
  • Staff will provide a quality experience to children that focus on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Builds and maintain a positive environment for all students.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety of children.
  • Maintain attendance records.
  • Implement and execute lesson plans for scheduled program times, which include provisions for safe program opportunities and student’s ages and ability differences.
  • Facilitate positive behavior management techniques and trauma informed approaches.
  • Assist in providing a positive learning experience for all students
  • Maintain all program equipment in good order
  • Report all program changes and equipment needs to Leadership staff.
  • Model and facilitate relationship-building skills in all interactions and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, school staff and other YMCA staff.
  • Assists with cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms and equipment.
  • Ability to perform both indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years or older
  • Interest in working with children and youth, exercising sound emotional maturity, moral character, judgement, integrity and leadership capability.
  • Safety certifications and required trainings upon hire in accordance with required standards.

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to walk, stand, sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
  • Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
  • Requires bending, pulling, crouching, leaning, kneeling, walking, pushing, climbing, and jumping.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in such a way as to be easily understood by children, staff, and parents.
  • Visual and auditory ability to supervise and respond to critical situations with children.
  • Must be able to move freely and quickly through the facility and alternate program locations including indoor and outdoor space.
