Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Teacher to join our two-year-old classroom of 14 children. Working alongside our Lead Teacher, you will help prepare and maintain a nurturing, orderly Montessori environment tailored specifically to two-year-olds. You’ll play a key role in supporting early independence, observing individual development, and fostering a safe space for rich exploration.
Key Responsibilities
- Environment Preparation: Set up, organize, and maintain Montessori materials to support purposeful activities and self-directed learning for two-year-olds.
- Classroom Support: Assist the Lead Teacher with daily routines, meal/snack times, outdoor play, self-care, and smooth transitions for a classroom of 14 two-year-olds.
- Child Observation: Observe and document student growth and behavior to assist with individualized learning plans.
- Community & Safety: Maintain a clean, safe classroom while building positive, respectful relationships with children, staff, and parents.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Background in early childhood education; prior Montessori classroom experience preferred.
- Certifications: Must have or be willing to obtain CPR, First Aid, and state-required Health & Safety training (provided by our school).
- Clearances: Ability to pass a background check and comply with the Kansas Office of Early Childhood regulations.
- Core Skills: Strong communication, active observation, teamwork, and a solid understanding of two-year-old developmental needs.
