The Opportunity

This role supports Federal electronic security projects while building foundational technical skills. Working under close to general supervision (based on experience), you will assist with the design and documentation of electronic security systems and coordinate with interdisciplinary project teams. The position is intended for early-career engineers (new graduates through associate level) and provides training, mentorship, and increasing responsibility over time.

 

Key Responsibilities

Design Support

  • Assist with security system designs for Federal and MILCON facilities, including headquarters, data centers, maintenance facilities, hangars, housing, training centers, SCIFs, HEMP-protected facilities, laboratories, aviation facilities, intelligence/command centers, and other secure environments.
  • Support security system designs incorporating electronic access control, intrusion detection and alarming, perimeter controls, and video surveillance/CCTV.
  • Prepare design drawings, specifications, basis of design/design analysis documents, cost estimates, and material lists under guidance from senior engineers.
  • Coordinate with BIM/CAD teams for drawing production; use Bluebeam for markups and Revit for viewing or supporting design models.
  • Support preparation of basis of design reports and technical specifications using Microsoft Word and Bluebeam.
  • Collaborate with project team members and selected clients through conceptual design, design development, technical coordination, QA/QC, and design reviews.
  • Travel to project sites (primarily domestic) may be required for field data collection or meeting.

 

Project Team Support

  • Incorporate feedback from senior engineers into drawings and documents and ensure updates align with interdisciplinary and client requirements.
  • Support internal and external meetings and participate in technical discussions as appropriate.
  • Adhere to project budgets, schedules, and quality standards while supporting task planning and coordination.

 

Additional Opportunities

Preferred Qualifications

You will be assigned to projects for U.S. Government Agency/Department clients. Thus, the candidate must be a U.S. Citizen. 

 

The following are required qualifications (new grad through associate level): 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program (or in progress for candidates close to graduation, as applicable)         

  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) (preferred) 

  • Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC) 

  • Familiarity with the applicable Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) 

  • Ability to obtain a US security clearance
