Full Time Facilities & Maintenance Position

St. John Paul II Catholic Church & Academy is seeking a dependable, self-motivated, skilled individual to fill our Facilities & Maintenance Position.  

This position is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and general upkeep of our buildings, grounds, and equipment. The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in their work, is attentive to detail, can work independently, and enjoys serving the parish and school community. 

Responsibilities include: 

• Performing general building repairs and routine maintenance throughout the parish facilities 
• Conduct regular inspections of the buildings, restrooms, offices and mechanical spaces 
• Identify maintenance needs and address issues in a timely manner 
• Perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and general repair work as appropriate 
• Coordinate with outside contractors and service providers when specialized repairs are required 
• Setting up and taking down tables, chairs, and equipment for parish and school events 
• Ensure restrooms and public areas are clean, stocked, and presentable 
• Assist with maintaining clean and orderly common areas and facilities spaces 
• Address minor emergencies and unexpected facility needs 
• Assist with preventative maintenance programs and maintain appropriate records 
• Maintain parish and school grounds in a safe, clean and attractive condition 
• Assist with lawncare, landscaping, snow and ice removal, leaf removal and other seasonal maintenance as needed 
• Identify potential safety concerns and ensure they are addressed promptly 
• Other maintenance duties as assigned 

Qualifications: 

• General maintenance and repair experience 
• Experience working in a church, school, commercial building, or similar facility is preferred 
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks 
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail 
• Dependable and trustworthy 
• Ability to pass required background screening and safe-environment training 
• Willingness to support and respect the mission and values of a Catholic parish and school 

Physical Requirements: 

This position requires regular physical activity, including standing, walking, kneeling, climbing stairs, and ladders. Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work indoors and outdoors. 

Schedule: 

This is a full-time position, averaging 30 to 40 hours per week. The regular schedule will require some flexibly to accommodate parish and school activities, events, seasonal needs and occasional evening or weekend needs.
