Position Summary: The Production Supervisor (P.S.) ensures the proper flow of production is maintained in the plant utilizing the production schedule. The P.S. is responsible for maintaining product quality standards. The P.S. communicates staffing needs to the Director of Manufacturing.  Both the P.S. and Director of Manufacturing will work in conjunction to hire specific positions. The P.S. ensures training of employees and has authority for termination, discipline, and performance decisions.  The P.S. communicates with all team members the status of jobs in process, and milestones achieved in meeting goals and objectives. The P.S. must be professional in presentation and have excellent verbal and written communication with internal and external customers and/or vendors to address process improvement opportunities and resolve problems.   Essential Functions: Supervises the primary work centers within the production area including: make ready, press, ink, and finishing; ensuring production is flowing and all work centers are staged to plan. Ensures the work conducted within the production area is performed in a safe and efficient manner. Any unsafe work conditions are addressed immediately. Encourages participation and support of 5S initiatives by promoting departmental organization and cleanliness of equipment and work areas. Studies production processes for effectiveness to ensure that all processes and procedures are documented and followed. Ensures adherence to all quality control processes and procedures and actively supports the company’s internal audit program. Responsible for staffing, training, coaching and counseling of departmental employees. Confers with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments. Inspects materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions. Observes work, monitors equipment, reports and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards. Confers with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems or complaints. Recommends and implements measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency. Recommends personnel actions such as hiring and promotions. Guides and directs subordinates by: Assigning work to employees  Monitoring worker performance  Motivating workers to achieve work goals  Orienting new employees Interprets the meaning of information for others as needed: Explains rules, policies or regulations  Explains job tickets, specifications, or work techniques to workers   Skills and Experience Required: Individual must be able to work independently with minimal guidance required. This implies good time management, planning/organization, and decision-making skills. Individual must be able to interact effectively with a wide variety of people in a wide variety of settings, possessing strong communication skills, maintaining flexibility, objectivity and a capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Individual must be able to coach all employees in a supporting environment that maintains self-esteem and supports functional accountability. Individual must be able to handle administrative activities, maintain records, reports, or files. This includes the preparation and maintenance of employee records and documentation. Preferred 4 year degree and 2-4 years relevant experience. Individual should possess basic math and computer skills. English language required.   Physical and Other Requirements: This job is performed indoors in a temperature and humidity controlled environment.  Job tasks are performed in close proximity to other people and include exposure to strobe lights, sounds and noise levels that could be distracting.  The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, bend or crouch. The employee must frequently stand, walk, talk, and occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  Specific hearing abilities required by this job include ability to hear alarms and other sensors in a factory environment.  Requires use of hands to handle, control or feel objects and operate tools and controls.     Phenix Label is an equal opportunity employer.
