Description

 The Glen Oaks Club, a premier club in Long Island, NY, is seeking a Full Time Facilities Maintenance Engineer. The Glen Oaks Club is known for providing its members with an exceptional and personalized experience. For nearly 100 years the Glen Oaks Club has been evolving to maintain its stature as a home away from home for its member families.  


Summary: The Facilities Maintenance Engineer is responsible for completing all maintenance and engineering duties and repairs all furniture and equipment, lighting, plumbing, HVAC, windows, flooring, locks, painting, and other aspects of the Clubhouse, company homes, and other structures


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following;

  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural components.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and resolve issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime and disruption to operations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment, such as HVAC systems, plumbing fixtures, electrical circuits, and building automation controls.
  • Conduct regular checks on building systems, such as fire alarms, security systems, and emergency lighting, to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment logs, and inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or installations as needed.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of facility improvement projects, including renovations, upgrades, and expansions.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of supplies and spare parts necessary for maintenance tasks.
  • Uphold standards of cleanliness and orderliness throughout the facilities, including common areas, restrooms, and utility rooms.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations at all times, including the proper handling of hazardous materials and compliance with OSHA guidelines.
  • Provide support during emergencies, such as power outages, natural disasters, or other unforeseen events, to ensure the safety and security of building occupants. 
  • Performs other duties assigned by Facilities Maintenance Manager.


Requirements


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  •  Proven experience in facilities maintenance, including knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve problems efficiently.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools for repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for maintaining accurate records and inventory.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with colleagues, tenants, and external contractors.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays for emergencies or special projects.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations, including OSHA standards, and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks that may require lifting, climbing, bending, and working in confined spaces.
  • Valid NYS Drivers License 

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
