JOB TITLE: Direct Support Professional

CLASSIFICATION: Full Time, Non-Exempt

PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT:   Supportive Apartments

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  Program Supervisor – Supportive Apartments

POSITION SUMMARY: Enables the people we support to lead a self-directed, independent life and maintain their home environment by providing formal instruction, guidance, and support. Areas of assistance include but are not limited to: Shopping, cleaning, banking, exercising, medical appointments, and transportation. Maintains proper documentation of all scheduled visits.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education, Training & Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent

Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record and dependable transportation

 

Preferred Education, Training & Experience:
One to two (1-2) years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities, and/or dually diagnosed intellectual developmental disability and mental health disorders.

Any teaching or training experience.

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to be available and responsive to “on call" demands

Ability to transport the people we serve in Agency van or personal vehicle

Ability to identify fluctuations in the needs of the people we serve and take appropriate action while demonstrating solid judgment and initiative.

Ability to effectively communicate orally, in writing, telephone, 1-on-1, or in groups

Ability to deal with multiple tasks efficiently and adaptively

Ability to obtain and maintain medication administration certification

Ability to obtain and maintain CPI certification

Ability to react appropriately to emergency or other unusual situations

Ability to conduct fire and evacuation drills

 

(Caseload and number of weekly visits are determined based on the needs of the individuals.)

 

SALARY:

$17 per hour starting rate

$17.50 per hour rate of pay following successful completion of medication administration training 

$150 stipend per week when on call

 

SCHEDULE:

Monday- Friday 8am-4:30pm
