MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: None
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Two years in acute care. Previous clinical nursing experience.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current Texas State License for Registered Nurse
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
REQUIRED COURSES/COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR):
  • Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
  • AHA ACLS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role (LABOR & DELIVERY)
    *Should be completed before the end of the orientation period
  • AHA NRP must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role (LABOR & DELIVERY or any nurse floated into L&D)
    *Should be completed before the end of the orientation period
  • Fetal Monitoring - L&D and Antepartum: Novice RNs are required to complete GNOSIS introduction to Fetal Heart Monitoring with 30 days from hire date or transfer date into unit and AWHONN Intermediate Heart Monitoring with 8 months of L&D Orientation.
  • Experienced L&D RNs (>1 yr experience) must have AWHONN Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring on hire or within the first 90 days of hire,
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. - Level 2 Nursery-Must provide proof of prior completion or obtain within 6 months of hire or transfer date into unit (Renewal is not required).
  • AHA PALS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role (PEDIATRICS)
