About the Role:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care within various healthcare settings across the United States. This position involves providing direct nursing care under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians, ensuring patient comfort, safety, and well-being. The LPN will be responsible for monitoring patient health, administering medications, and assisting with medical procedures, contributing to effective treatment plans. Additionally, the role requires maintaining accurate patient records and communicating effectively with healthcare team members to support coordinated care. Ultimately, the LPN helps to improve patient outcomes by delivering compassionate, competent, and timely nursing services.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of employment within the United States.
  • Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of nursing principles, patient care techniques, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to pass background checks and meet health screening requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a clinical or long-term care setting.
  • Additional certifications such as IV therapy, medication administration, or geriatric nursing.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide basic nursing care to patients, including monitoring vital signs, administering prescribed medications, and assisting with daily living activities.
  • Observe and report changes in patients’ conditions to registered nurses and physicians promptly.
  • Assist with wound care, catheterization, and other medical procedures as directed by healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting care provided and patient responses.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
  • Educate patients and their families on health maintenance, disease prevention, and post-treatment care.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, safety protocols, and infection control standards.

Skills:

The LPN utilizes clinical skills daily to assess patient conditions, administer medications safely, and perform nursing procedures with precision. Effective communication skills are essential for educating patients and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care delivery. Organizational skills help the LPN maintain accurate documentation and manage multiple patient needs efficiently. Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities enable the nurse to recognize changes in patient status and respond appropriately. Additionally, proficiency with healthcare technology, such as electronic health records, supports accurate data management and enhances overall patient care coordination.
