POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager, IT oversees the organization's technology infrastructure and operations, ensuring systems are reliable, efficient, and secure. They lead their team, manage projects, and align technology strategies with business goals. Responsibilities include actively overseeing desktop support, software deployment, strategic planning, budgeting, and ensuring the security and compliance of IT systems. This position requires exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across internal teams and external partners. In addition to providing hands-on technical support as part of our IT team, this role will develop strategies and plans to support the diverse IT needs of our business within the nutraceutical industry and interface with senior leadership of the company.Â
This full-time, exempt position reports to the President of the company. The Manager, IT generally works Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm but may be required to work on an altered schedule to meet the needs of the business. This position is in Olympia, WA, and local travel to other company locations and training seminars may be required from time to time. Work responsibilities herein represent typical elements and criteria considered necessary to perform the job successfully. Other duties may be assigned to meet emerging business needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Owns the performance, availability, and reliability of enterprise technology systems, ensuring they consistently support business operations with minimal disruption, meet defined service levels, and evolve to address changing business needs. Defines the road map to meet business needs.
- Monitors work queues and direct work to ensure requests are prioritized and completed efficiently.
- Establishes, maintains, and enforces standards for IT and enterprise systems documentation, including system configurations, integrations, processes, workflows, support procedures, change logs, vendor information, company policies, and knowledge transfer materials to ensure continuity, scalability, and effective cross-functional support.
- Manages and develops a high-performing IT team, establishing clear priorities, service standards, and accountability.Â
- Provides maintenance and operation of the company’s servers, networks, computing hardware, virtualized infrastructure, cloud deployments, software licenses, and enterprise applications.
- Builds a culture of documentation, process discipline, and knowledge sharing across the IT function.
- Oversees cybersecurity and risk management program, ensuring regulatory compliance, strong internal controls, and ongoing system protection. Demonstrates compliance on request to external audit and insurance contacts.Â
- Manages relationships with external vendors, consultants, and technology partners to ensure performance, cost efficiency, and service quality. Negotiates and monitors pricing, support parameters, and service level commitments.
- Engages stakeholders across the organization to identify and implement opportunities to optimize business processes through technology and automation.Â
- Designs, implements, maintains, and regularly test business continuity and disaster recovery strategies to ensure operational resilience.
- Owns and monitors IT budgeting and financial management, ensuring disciplined investment prioritization, cost transparency, and ROI alignment.Â
- Evaluates, prioritizes, and implements AI, automation and emerging technologies, ensuring responsible use, data integrity, scalability, and measurable business impact.Â
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, business administration or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five (5) years of progressive experience leading IT functions, preferably within manufacturing, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or food and beverage environments.
- Proven ability to translate complex business needs into technical requirements and long-term infrastructure plans.
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to executive stakeholders.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods, budgeting and coordination of resources.
- Advanced skill in developing tools, programs and services. Ability to develop informative and succinct management status reporting, managing service level agreements, establishing key performance metrics and continuous process improvement culture.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time; a stand-up desk is available upon request

Wage Range (DOE):Â $116,730 - $194,550 per year
