Advanced Metals Machining is a precision metal component manufacturer serving aerospace, defense, satellite, optical, and commercial industries looking to add a dedicated and detail-oriented Shipping/Receiving Clerk to our growing team.

Job Purpose:

The primary responsibilities of this position are to manage and oversee the process of shipping finished goods and receiving materials, parts, or supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Verify the arrival of raw materials, parts, or supplies based on purchase orders or shipment notifications.
  • Inspect incoming items for damage, defects or discrepancies.
  • Record the receipt of goods and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed accurately.
  • Update records in the company's system to reflect newly received items.
  • Prepare finished goods or materials for shipment according to customer orders or production schedules.
  • Ensure that products are packaged appropriately for safe transport, following safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with carriers to schedule pickups and arrange for delivery to customers.
  • Ensure that all shipping documentation is accurate and accompany the shipment.
  • Ensure that received materials or finished goods are stored in an organized manner.
  • Address issues such as shipment delays, damages, or missing items.
  • Provide tracking details or shipping information to internal teams as needed.
  • Ensure all shipments comply with relevant regulations.
  • Follow safety protocols when handling shipments and materials.
  • Keep accurate records of all shipping and receiving activities, including dates, quantities, and item descriptions.

Skills/Qualifications/Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Proficiency in using software for preparing shipping labels, tracking shipments, and updating shipping records.
  • Knowledge of handling various materials, including fragile or hazardous goods. This includes proper loading/unloading techniques, using forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks.
  • Understanding the specifications and packaging requirements for different types of goods.
  • Knowledge of proper packaging techniques to ensure safe transport.
  • Strong attention to detail to identify discrepancies or errors.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to ensure that urgent shipments or orders are processed in a timely manner.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with internal teams and external parties.
  • Ability to address issues such as missing, damaged, or incorrect shipments and find solutions quickly.

Physical Requirements

While performing the responsibilities of the Shipping/Receiving Clerk job, the employee is required to talk and listen. The employee is often required to sit/stand for extended time periods. The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required for this job include close vision. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
