Position: Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET)
Location: Omaha, NE (On-site)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 0730-1630. Occasional travel (up to 10 days per year) may be required in support of mission-essential activities.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET).
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, Zoom, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Knowledge of Air Force standards, military and civilian policies, and biomedical equipment regulations, including DoD, The Joint Commission, AAAHC, CAP, OSHA, NFPA, NEC, and FDA requirements.
- Experience troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, calibrating, and testing complex biomedical equipment, including hardware and software components.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, and electronic system documentation.
- Ability to maintain and repair biomedical equipment, including the Negatively Pressurized Conex Lite (NPCL), in accordance with OEM specifications.
- Ability to use computerized systems to maintain maintenance records and technical documentation.
- Ability to pass a color vision test.
- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 51 pounds.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to provide a signed Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) prior to the start of performance.
Highly Desired Qualifications:
- One year of military medical or deployment experience.
- Experience with military administrative processes and protocols.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), audiovisual systems, moulage creation, hyper-realistic simulators, and task trainers.
- Experience with the Air Force Technical Order System.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, test, and perform preventive maintenance on biomedical and simulation equipment in accordance with OEM specifications.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and evaluate equipment condition to recommend repair, upgrades, replacement, or disposition.
- Support the operation, maintenance, and safety of medical simulation equipment, including the Negatively Pressurized Conex Lite (NPCL), C-130 Fuselage Trainer, and C-17 training platform.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards while identifying and mitigating electrical and mechanical hazards associated with biomedical and simulation equipment.
- Train medical personnel on the proper operation and preventive maintenance of biomedical equipment.
- Prepare and maintain simulation training environments and provide technical support for scheduled training activities.
- Develop training, safety, and maintenance documentation for simulation equipment and support simulation center operations.
- Assist with equipment troubleshooting, simulation program operations, and course support activities, including classroom setup, administrative coordination, and student support.
- Monitor equipment readiness, recommend improvements, and support mission-essential training requirements.
- Participate in manufacturer training and maintain current technical knowledge of biomedical equipment and emerging technologies.
- Travel, as required, to provide technical support, subject matter expertise, and training for exercises, working groups, and mission activities
