Position Summary: The Facilities Operations Technician, will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our facility's technical systems and equipment. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong technical background who is passionate about supporting healthcare services and improving patient outcomes. You will work closely with medical and administrative staff to maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize orthopedic equipment and technology, contributing to a high standard of patient care and operational excellence.

Position Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Trade school experience in a related field is preferred. Licensure: Driver's license is required.

Experience: Trade school experience in a related field is preferred.


Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • A basic understanding of building repair and maintenance is required.
  • Through hands-on training, the position requires the ability to understand the concepts of refrigeration, electricity, plumbing, building mechanicals, drywall repair/finish painting, basic carpentry, and tiling, along with various miscellaneous duties that focus on building cosmetics and maintenance.
  • Able to identify building issues, safety risks, and exposure to the security perimeter of the building structures and effectively communicate findings.
  • Ability to understand the importance of potential building issues that may require immediate attention, such as water, gas, or liquid leaks, fire hazards, and/or other building functions that may immediately impact life safety.
  • Demonstrate ability to:
    • Be flexible with duties as assigned and re-direct priorities as needed.
    • Track, report, and manage daily expenses in a work order tracking system
    • Communicate effectively with staff regarding status of submitted work orders
    • Be flexible with responding to on-call events, emergencies, after-hour projects and planned maintenance events
    • Present a professional appearance and work effort in all areas of the hospital, adjoining buildings and grounds.
    • Communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of hospital staff, patients, patient families, and contractors.
    • Participate in managerial and engineering process checks and take direction accordingly.
    • Understand the importance of and adhere to personal attendance and tardiness policies to ensure uninterrupted operations of hospital building functions.
    • Present a positive and motivated "can-do" attitude.

Essential Job Functions

  • Performs ongoing cosmetic maintenance/repairs to all surfaces and finishes, including tile, carpet, drywall, paint, wall vinyl, VCT, doors, hardware, various trim applications, and wall hangings.
  • Performs the maintenance and upkeep of campus grounds and exterior functions.
  • Provide assistance to Operation Engineers as needed with Plant functions.
  • Performs general building maintenance in a timely manner and/or as assigned and has the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Position requires the understanding and ability to perform as described above in the following areas:
    • Plumbing
    • Electrical
    • Develop an understanding of System Controls and their effect on building environments
    • Ensure materials inventory
  • Self-motivated to complete tasks and projects on a day-to-day basis.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Life Safety, Environmental Care, and Health Care Fire System requirements and documentation as learned through on-the-job training.
  • Uses required smartphone to address received work orders and service tickets.
  • Employee is responsible for all other duties as assigned for which competency has been demonstrated.

Physical requirements: This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of up to 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Performs all work in a safe manner. Must also learn when, where, and how to properly wear and maintain personal protective equipment. In addition, performs safely in regard to exposure to the following environments: loud noises; working from ladders, scaffolds, rooftops, and man lifts; exposure to potentially unsanitary conditions; exposure to cleaning chemicals; exposure to heat; exposure to cold conditions; ability to bend, stoop and lift up to 90 lbs.; ability to operate motor vehicles, snow removal equipment, etc. follow all safety standards, policies and procedures; and must also comply with OSHA, Safety and Environmental regulations.

















Must be able to pass background check. We also conduct pre-employment physical and drug testing. Any job offer will be contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical with a drug screen, background check and obtaining active licensures per job requirements.
