 WHO WE ARE

Educare of Omaha, Inc. is a collaborative partnership between the Early Head Start/Head Start, Omaha Public Schools and the Buffett Early Childhood Fund. Comprised of the two Educare Omaha Schools (Kellom and Indian Hill) and the three Early Learning Centers (Skinner, Gateway and Kennedy), the mission of Educare of Omaha, Inc. is to promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children ages 0 to 5 years through the provision of evidence-based education, health, nutritional, social, family engagement and other services to enrolled children and their families.   

 

 POSITION DETAILS

The Mentor Teacher Supervisor provides instructional leadership, supervision, coaching, and performance management for classroom teaching staff. This position is responsible for building educator capacity through reflective supervision, job-embedded coaching, data-driven instructional support, and professional development to ensure the consistent implementation of high-quality teaching practices that improve child outcomes. 

The Mentor Teacher Supervisor partners with teachers, families, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure children receive individualized, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences. The position also assists with coordination of services for children with disabilities, developmental concerns, and social-emotional or mental health needs while ensuring compliance with Educare of Omaha standards, Head Start Performance Standards, Sixpence requirements, Nebraska licensing regulations, and accreditation expectations. 

Success in this role is measured by improvements in instructional quality, staff development, classroom outcomes, school readiness, compliance, and the effectiveness of coaching relationships.


 SCHEDULE

Full Time (40 hours per week, Monday-Friday); 12 Months; Exempt. A typical Monday-Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and flexibility as needed to meet organizational needs.

⭐DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Instructional Leadership & Program Quality

  • Lead the implementation of high-quality instructional practices across assigned classrooms aligned with Educare of Omaha's instructional model, curriculum, and school readiness goals. 
  • Conduct regular classroom observations utilizing CLASS, curriculum fidelity tools, environmental rating scales (ITERS/ECERS), and other approved monitoring instruments. 
  • Provide individualized coaching cycles that include observation, reflective feedback, collaborative goal setting, modeling, implementation support, and follow-up.
  • Develop teachers' instructional capacity through reflective supervision and evidence-based coaching practices. 
  • Review lesson plans, child assessment data, and classroom documentation to ensure instruction is intentional, individualized, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate. 
  • Support teachers in analyzing child outcome data to develop instructional strategies that improve school readiness outcomes. 
  • Model effective instructional strategies, language-rich interactions, inclusive practices, positive behavior supports, and social-emotional teaching techniques. 
  • Ensure classroom environments promote safety, engagement, inclusion, and high-quality learning experiences. 
  • Monitor implementation of curriculum, assessment systems, individualized learning plans, and program expectations. 
  • Ensure classrooms maintain required teacher-child ratios and provide classroom support as operationally necessary. 
  • Complete assigned monitoring activities, documentation, and corrective action follow-up. 

Coaching, Supervision & Staff Development

  • Supervise assigned teaching staff including Teachers, Associate Teachers, Teacher Aides, and other assigned instructional personnel. 
  • Conduct reflective supervision meetings on a regular basis to support professional growth, well-being, and continuous improvement. 
  • Complete introductory, annual, and ongoing performance evaluations in accordance with organizational expectations. 
  • Develop individualized professional growth plans using classroom observation data, employee performance, and child outcome data. 
  • Identify performance concerns early and implement coaching plans to improve instructional effectiveness. 
  • Collaborate with the School Director to identify professional development priorities and implement targeted learning opportunities. 
  • Support implementation and sustainability of new instructional practices following training. 
  • Coordinate orientation, mentoring, onboarding, and ongoing support for new teachers, substitute teachers, student teachers, practicum students, and volunteers. 
  • Co-facilitate regular instructional team meetings that promote collaboration, shared learning, and continuous improvement. 
  • Foster a positive professional culture built on accountability, trust, collaboration, and reflective practice. 

Child & Family Support Services

  • Coordinate referrals and follow-up services for children with developmental, behavioral, social-emotional, mental health, or special education needs. 
  • Collaborate with families to ensure they understand available services and actively participate in planning for their child's success. 
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, IFSP meetings, IEP meetings, and other child planning meetings. 
  • Collaborate with Family Engagement staff to identify barriers impacting children's participation and success. 
  • Coordinate referrals and ongoing collaboration with Omaha Public Schools, Mental Health Consultants, Speech-Language Pathologists, and other community partners. 
  • Ensure IFSP and IEP goals are implemented within classroom instruction and individualized learning experiences. 
  • Promote inclusive educational practices that support all learners. 

Operations, Compliance & Administration

  • Maintain compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, Nebraska licensing regulations, Sixpence requirements, NAEYC standards, and organizational policies. 
  • Prepare required reports, documentation, monitoring summaries, and program updates accurately and timely. 
  • Participate in hiring activities including interviewing, selection, onboarding, and orientation of instructional staff. 
  • Coordinate educational components of special events and family engagement activities. 
  • Utilize organizational data systems to monitor classroom quality, staff performance, compliance, and child outcomes. 
  • Participate in leadership meetings, interdisciplinary planning meetings, and continuous quality improvement initiatives. 
  • Collaborate with the School Director to develop improvement plans based on monitoring findings and organizational priorities. 
  • Maintain confidentiality of children, families, staff, and organizational information.


 EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Master's Degree in Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education preferred. 
  • Nebraska Teaching Certificate.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience serving children birth through age five. 
  • Demonstrated experience providing instructional coaching, mentoring, or teacher leadership. 
  • Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and early childhood quality improvement systems. 
  • Ability to successfully pass all required background checks. 

Preferred

  • Administrative or supervisory experience in an early childhood education program. 
  • Experience with Educare, Head Start, Early Head Start, or other comprehensive early childhood programs. 
  • Experience using CLASS, Teaching Strategies GOLD, ECERS/ITERS, and other quality assessment tools. 
  • Bilingual abilities are preferred.
