Hillcrest Health & Living is looking for a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Nurse Tech / Med Tech to join our nursing team at Hillcrest Millard in Omaha, NE.
This position requires both an active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification and Medication Aide certification in Nebraska. While the team member will be trained and able to support Nurse Tech responsibilities, this role will work primarily as a Med Tech, helping ensure medications are administered safely and residents receive attentive, personalized care.

What You’ll Do
As a Nurse Tech / Med Tech, you will work primarily in a Med Tech capacity while also providing Nurse Tech support when needed. The position requires completion of Nursing Assistant and Medication Aide coursework and active Nebraska certification in both areas.
You will:

Administer medications to assigned guests and residents within the scope of your certification and Hillcrest policies.

Follow medication-administration procedures carefully and accurately.

Observe guests and residents for changes in condition, behavior, or response to medications and communicate concerns promptly to the nurse.

Work closely with nurses and other clinical team members to support safe, consistent care.

Provide personal care when needed, including assistance with bathing, dressing, hygiene, and other activities of daily living.

Respond to call lights promptly and help identify resident needs.

Obtain and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations, and weight as directed.

Assist guests and residents with meals when needed and help create a comfortable dining experience.

Maintain clean, organized, and safe resident-care areas.

Change soiled linens and assist with maintaining a comfortable resident environment.

Document care accurately in the electronic point-of-care system.

Report refusals of care, abnormal vital signs, physical changes, or behavioral concerns to the nurse promptly.

Follow individualized care-plan interventions throughout each shift.

Assist with transfers, ambulation, and wheelchair transportation according to each resident’s care plan.

Use appropriate safety equipment, including gait belts, according to established care plans.

Support Nurse Tech responsibilities when resident and staffing needs require additional assistance.
The underlying Nurse Tech role focuses on personal care, observation, vital signs, documentation, call-light response, dining assistance, and prompt communication of changes in condition to nursing.

Ideal candidates will have:

Active CNA and Medication Aide certifications in Nebraska.

Previous experience as a Med Tech, CNA, Nurse Tech, or similar direct-care role preferred.

Experience working with aging adults in skilled nursing, post-acute care, long-term care, hospital, or a similar setting preferred.

Strong attention to detail with medication administration, documentation, vital signs, and care-plan requirements.

Ability to recognize and promptly report changes in a resident’s physical or behavioral condition.

Strong communication skills with residents, families, nurses, and other team members.

A compassionate and respectful approach to personal care.

Strong accountability and dependable follow-through.

Ability to manage multiple resident needs while maintaining safety and accuracy.

Education & Credentials

Completion of an approved Nursing Assistant course required.

Completion of an approved Medication Aide course required.

Active Certified Nursing Assistant certification in Nebraska required.

Active Medication Aide certification in Nebraska required.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Basic Life Support CPR certification required or willingness to obtain within 45 days of hire.

Previous experience providing personal care to aging adults in long-term care, post-acute care, hospital, or a similar setting preferred.
