Summary/Primary Purpose: To answer incoming phone calls, greet incoming clients/visitors and assist them with a variety of community services provided at our Corps.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet all incoming clients/visitors in a friendly professional manner.
  • Answer phone calls in pleasant, courteous manner.
  • Make appointments as needed.
  • Responsible for accurate written messages.
  • Provide referral paperwork to incoming clients seeking assistance.
  • Assist the Administrative Assistant with any upcoming projects/mailings.
  • Provide potential community services assistance to all clients/visitors.
  • Determines preliminary eligibility of clients both on and off phone through our data entry program.
  • Assist with miscellaneous tasks, such as; laundry, cleaning, filing, shredding.
  • All other assigned duties.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

 

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma/GED. Some secondary education preferred. Minimum of 1 year of related experience in reception, telephone work, or data processing preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

 

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

  • Ability to work with people of varying backgrounds and cultures with patience and respect.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives with little supervision.     
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.  As well as the ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
  • Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, 10-key, attention to details and filing.
  • Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.

 

Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.

Working Conditions: The work environment is a business office setting with office equipment, moderate traffic and noise levels.
