- Optimize SQL queries and data processing logic for scalability, efficiency, and reliability across multiple database platforms.
- Partner with technical teams, project leadership, architects, and business stakeholders to validate requirements and ensure migration outcomes align to expected reporting behavior.
- Support architecture reviews and contribute to migration planning, sequencing, and implementation strategy.
- Execute data validation, reconciliation, and testing activities to confirm completeness, integrity, and consistency of migrated datasets.
- Assist with historical data migration, implementation readiness, production cutover, and post-deployment support.
- Identify issues proactively, solve complex dependency challenges, and deliver clear technical documentation throughout the migration lifecycle.
Qualifications
- 4-10 years experience as a Data Engineer
- Strong hands-on experience with SSIS packages and SQL Agent jobs.
- Advanced SQL development and query optimization experience in SQL Server, Teradata, and Oracle.
- Demonstrated experience with data lineage analysis, dependency tracing, and reverse engineering legacy ETL processes.
- Proven background in data migration and modernization initiatives involving business-critical data and reporting logic.
- Experience performing data validation, reconciliation testing, and migration quality assurance.
- Strong knowledge of cross-platform SQL conversion and platform-specific considerations across SQL Server, Teradata, Oracle, and Snowflake.
- Ability to independently trace complex tables, views, stored procedures, SSIS workflows, and job orchestration after onboarding.
- Strong analytical thinking, structured problem-solving, and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly document lineage, risks, and technical decisions.
- Experience supporting architecture reviews, historical data migration, production cutover, and implementation activities.
- Must be onshore and able to work onsite in Omaha, NE preferred, even if remote flexibility is considered.
