Job Summary

The Junior HR Business Partner takes personal accountability for their work, have a passion for excellence, are driven to achieve their full potential and understand the value of building relationships. The Junior HR Business Partner demonstrates strong work ethic, thrives on challenges, and provides outstanding associate experience. The Junior HR Business Partner manages the day-to-day operations of the HR Department. They handle a broad range of responsibilities across the entire associate lifecycle, serving as a valuable resource to the associates and management team. The Junior HR Business Partner will provide support to all of the following Human Resources functional areas including employee relations, performance management, HRIS, training, and special projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Knowledgeable of federal and state laws related to wage and hour laws, ADA, FMLA, OSHA, workers’ compensation, I-9 requirements, COBRA, etc.;
  • Educates associates and management about Human Resources policies, procedures, performance management, and employee relations issues;
  • At times will deliver Human Resources-related training for management and associates;
  • Recommends possible updates to company policies, including the Employee Handbook, regularly to ensure compliance with current employment laws and regulations;
  • Assist in organizational development, and the successful completion of the annual and mid-year employee performance review process;
  • Work directly with associates and management on employee relations issues; provides coaching as needed; prepares disciplinary documentation for delivery;
  • Assists in the successful onboarding of new hires and exiting of associates;
  • Ability to handle and resolve confidential/sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy;
  • Assists with the 30, 60 90 Day Check-In Process, along with the Stay Interview Process.
  • Develop and maintain an atmosphere throughout the organization to ensure that associates are comfortable asking questions and/or requesting support;
  • Assist in the development and training of new team members as required;
  • Assist with career pathing initiatives, including reviewing and updating job descriptions, partnering with managers to identify role changes and evolving responsibilities, and helping ensure job documentation accurately reflects organizational needs and career development opportunities.
  • Organize, coordinate, and participate in in-office events and employee engagement activities to foster a positive workplace culture, strengthen team connections, and support associate retention.
  • Continually updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; internal company and team trainings; maintains personal networks; participates in professional development opportunities and;
  • May perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, assisting in the coordination of the work of other team members as needed;
  • Advanced computer and technical skills, including the use of MS Office Suite and other HRIS systems;
  • Ability to effectively provide team members and others with information, training and assistance as needed;
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical, interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to multitask; excellent communication, time management, planning and problem-solving skills required;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Work and Excel;
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities and deadlines and;
  • Demonstrate sound research, interpretive and problem-solving abilities.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or related field;
  • 1-3 years’ experience working in the Human Resources field to include experience in employee relations, HRIS and training;
  • PHR or SHRM-CP highly preferred.

  • At times, as business needs arise and associates are required and agree to work beyond their normal work day or work week to fulfill the accountabilities required for their job.

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand;
    • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10lbs and;
    • Specific vision abilities are required within this position.
  • Occasional travel (approximately 10% or less) may be required in this position.
