Desktop Administrator

Position Summary

Marshall Health Network is seeking a Desktop Administrator to support and enhance our end-user computing environment. Reporting to the Director of IS Service Management, this role is responsible for the administration, standardization, deployment, and lifecycle management of desktops, laptops, and other endpoint devices across the organization.

This position plays a key role in delivering a secure, consistent, and high-quality technology experience for clinicians and staff. The Desktop Administrator will collaborate closely with Service Desk, Clinical Informatics, Security, and Infrastructure teams to ensure reliable endpoint operations and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical lead for endpoint management, including desktops, laptops, virtual desktops, and select mobile devices
  • Administer and support endpoint management platforms (e.g., Intune and related tools)
  • Develop and maintain standard device configurations, security baselines, and deployment processes
  • Manage endpoint patching, OS upgrades, and device lifecycle (including Windows 10/11 environments)
  • Test and validate applications, drivers, and updates prior to deployment
  • Partner with Information Security to maintain endpoint protection, encryption, and compliance standards
  • Support identity and access integrations (Active Directory, Entra ID, device-based policies)
  • Automate provisioning, onboarding, device replacement, and offboarding processes
  • Act as an escalation point for complex endpoint and desktop-related issues
  • Collaborate with Service Desk to improve support workflows and documentation
  • Maintain accurate inventory, licensing alignment, and technical documentation
  • Assist with audits and compliance efforts related to endpoint management
  • Provide training and guidance to support teams as needed
Qualifications

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience required
  • Relevant Microsoft or endpoint management certifications preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years supporting enterprise end-user computing environments
  • Healthcare IT experience preferred

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11 and endpoint lifecycle management
  • Experience with endpoint management tools (e.g., Intune, imaging and deployment solutions)
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory and Entra ID
  • Familiarity with Group Policy and endpoint security configurations
  • Scripting experience (e.g., PowerShell) for automation and reporting
  • Experience supporting virtual desktop environments (e.g., AVD, Citrix, Windows 365)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, OS, and applications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products

Additional Skills

  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical users, including clinical staff
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment
