The role emphasizes instruction, supervision, and coordination of nursing personnel, along with related unit functions. The position operates under the general direction of the Director or Assistant Director of Nursing Services, allowing for considerable latitude in independent judgment for planning and executing assigned duties. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with medical staff in patient care and treatment. Supervise the preparation and submission of medical and statistical reports. Instruct and assist nursing staff and auxiliary personnel on nursing problems, clinical techniques, and unit management. Coordinate services with other departments for effective patient management. Supervise and instruct professional subordinates on aseptic and isolation techniques. Make recommendations to the Director of Nursing Services regarding staffing requirements. Assign nursing personnel to meet patient care needs. Assist in employee orientation, performance evaluation, and counseling. Perform personal management, clinical department, unit management, and supply distribution activities. Assist in formulating and executing policies and procedures. Maintain positive relationships with patients, families, friends, and physicians. Prepare various records and reports. Provide direct care and/or treatment to adults and geriatric patients as assigned. Other job related duties as assigned by the management.   QualificationsQualifications: Education and Experience: Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and one year of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse in a supervisory position; or Graduation from an approved three-year school of professional nursing and 2 years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse, one year of which has been in a supervisory position; or Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered two-year college with an Associate Degree in Nursing and three years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse, one year of which has been in a supervisory position An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined within the limits of the above. Licenses and Certifications: Eligibility for a license issued by the state of New York to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse; Possession of the license on the date of hire Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with medical staff, nursing personnel, and other departments. Strong leadership abilities to supervise and instruct nursing staff and auxiliary personnel. Empathy and a sympathetic attitude toward patients, fostering positive relationships with residents, families, and friends. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills for effective decision-making and patient care management. Ability to delegate, direct, and supervise daily performance while maintaining a positive work environment. Interpersonal skills for building and maintaining good relationships with residents' families and staff. Flexibility and adaptability to manage varying responsibilities and respond to changing needs.
