Position Summary

The Maintenance I role takes direction from the Maintenance Manager who will coordinate the activities of the Maintenance Department.  Under direct supervision, the right candidate will perform a wide variety of duties; including but not limited to; assisting machine setup / installation, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance of production and facility equipment.  

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

• All work is to be completed in such a manner as to promote a safe working environment, safe working practices, and promote good housekeeping
• Operate horizontal / vertical saws, tool post grinders, drill press, pipe threading machine, voltmeter.
• Perform a range of mechanical duties which can include assembly / disassembly, diagnostics, welding skills, hydraulic / pneumatic systems, electrical maintenance, boiler operations and various other plant systems / functions
• Perform machinist skills such as lathe operation, milling machine, press etc. and use a variety of hand / power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment
• Perform a variety of physically demanding assignments and effectively handle lifting various objects weighing up to 75 + pounds, climbing and working at extreme heights as well as in confined spaces, and in varied temperatures and conditions
• Will be required to perform preventative maintenance and be responsible for maintenance of equipment and facilities
• The wearing of ALL appropriate Personal Protective Equipment
• Follow all Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned or needed

Experience and Education Required

• High School Diploma / GED required
• Lift truck qualified required
• Strong mechanical aptitude required or mechanical / electrical / fabrication / machinist training 
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Technical Skills

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail 
• Able to read / understand measurements
• Capable of lifting 50+ pounds
• Mechanical and mathematical aptitude 
• Strong hand-eye-foot coordination
• Ability to work in a hot (up to 90+ degrees) environment
• Good hand-eye coordination and work in a fast-paced environment
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
