Job DetailsLevel: ManagementJob Location: Oracle, AZ 85623Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: High School - GEDJob Category: OperationsJOB SUMMARY The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising field personnel, scheduling, assigning and monitoring work by visiting the locations where work is being performed by employees. The Operations Supervisor is under the direction and general supervision of the Division Manager and Operation Superintendent. This is a management level position (Exempt). JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS With limited supervision, the Operations Supervisor performs a variety of tasks, duties and functions. These tasks, duties and functions require sound business judgment, leadership skills, knowledge of company procedures, policies, understanding of company's Construction Specifications, and may include, but not be limited to, the following: Participate in the overall management, planning, organization and direction of activities relating to the operation, maintenance, and improvement of the distribution, pumping, storage, and supply and water treatment facilities. In cooperation with the Division Management and Operation Superintendent oversees Division water quality testing, verifies all required testing is performed in accordance with approved scheduling and in the manner specified by the company. Reviews and inspects operation and maintenance activities for water distribution and water treatment facilities and infrastructure. Reviews construction plans and ensures construction plans are followed in compliance with company specifications. Assist with employee development for on the job training. Monitors and directs field employee’s activities to ensure safety and water quality or other company policies are followed. Ensures compliance with OSHA safety regulations and the company’s safety program. Oversees construction of company facilities. Prepares proposal/contracts requesting bids for system projects. Schedules regular preventative maintenance on the water distribution and water treatment facilities. Schedule and assign work from both scheduled office work orders and emergencies request. Calls or electronically generates request for blue stake markings prior to start of construction. Pre-inspects job sites to determine the scope of work necessary to complete work. Prepares field drawings of work completed. Subject to 24-hour on-call status. Must be physically able to perform work that requires walking, bending, kneeling, limited digging, and lifting. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather. Other tasks and duties as directed. QualificationsSKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Skills, knowledge and physical requirements include, but are not limited to: Must be familiar with various construction methods and with the company's Standard Specifications. Must be able to inspect construction projects to ensure compliance with company Standard Specifications and Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Engineering Bulletin No. 10. Must possess strong leadership and instructor skills. Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations. Have personal computer skills. Ability to read construction drawings. Have a thorough understanding of water distribution systems and water treatment facilities. Water sampling techniques. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and material suppliers. Must be physically able to perform work that requires walking, bending, kneeling, limited digging, and lifting 75 pounds. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather. EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Must be a high school graduate. Must have a minimum of three years experience as Utility Worker III, Water Treatment Operator, or comparable experience. Valid, appropriate Arizona driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Must have an Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Operator Certificate for Water Distribution and Water Treatment at a grade level specified by the company.
