Location: Group Homes – Hemlock & Austrian Court Job Type: Part-Time (8–29 hours per week) Pay Rate: $16.50 per hour Benefits: Limited Employee-Paid Benefits — Dental, Vision, and 403(b) Retirement Plan Schedule: Flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and possible overnight hours Challenge Enterprises of North Florida is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated individuals to join our residential services team as a Direct Care Specialist. Position Overview As a Direct Care Specialist, you will assist individuals with daily living activities, personal care, medication administration, transportation, community outings, and goal achievement based on individualized support plans. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, caring, reliable, and enjoys making a positive difference in the lives of others. What You’ll Do Daily Living & Personal Support • Assist individuals with activities of daily living including grooming, bathing, meal preparation, housekeeping, grocery shopping, cooking, and money management • Support individuals in achieving goals outlined in their Support Plan and Implementation Plan • Promote independence, dignity, and community inclusion • Plan and participate in recreational and community activities Health & Safety Responsibilities • Supervise and support the health and safety of individuals in the home • Administer medications and complete required medication documentation • Complete incident reports and communicate concerns to supervisors • Follow all agency safety, health, and residential procedures Documentation & Communication • Complete daily documentation using approved electronic systems • Maintain accurate records regarding health, goals, progress, and daily activities • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members • Monitor assigned group home email accounts and complete required reports • Accurately record time and attendance through approved systems Team & Agency Support • Attend required trainings, orientations, and staff meetings • Follow all Challenge Enterprises policies and procedures • Promote the agency mission: “The Power of People and Possibilities for individuals living with disabilities.”   Skills & QualificationsWhat We’re Looking For We are looking for caring professionals who are dependable, flexible, and passionate about supporting individuals with disabilities. Ideal Skills & Traits • Compassionate and patient personality • Strong communication and teamwork skills • Dependable work ethic and positive attitude • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced residential environment • Organized and detail-oriented • Ability to remain calm and supportive during challenging situations Qualifications Required Qualifications • High School Diploma or GED • Valid Florida Driver’s License with a clean 3-year driving record • Ability to pass State background screening requirements • One year of experience working in a medical, psychiatric, nursing home, childcare, or developmental disability setting (Relevant college, vocational, or technical training may substitute for experience) Preferred Qualifications • CPR and First Aid Certification preferred • Strong math, writing, and organizational skills • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred Physical Requirements • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, climb stairs, and assist individuals throughout the shift • Ability to work active shifts for extended periods • Ability to assist individuals using adaptive equipment when needed   Why Join Challenge Enterprises?
