Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing field inspections of real-time gas service installations and readiness completed by SCG-authorized contractors, ensuring compliance and quality standards. The role involves coordinating and scheduling fitting work with the SCG Overhaul Department based on field assessments, customer availability & utilizing a broad range of administrative and technical expertise to prepare detailed reports. Additional responsibilities include updating and maintaining accurate electronic and manual data, performing mathematical calculations, analyzing statistical information, and safeguarding the confidentiality of all documents and sensitive discussions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-inspections of service replacement and pipe fitter installations to ensure compliance and readiness.
  • Prepare customer service orders for the fitting department and schedule customer appointments for fitting work.
  • Independently contact customers on-site to arrange fitting work appointments.
  • Generate computerized work orders for service installations and leak repair packages.
  • Monitor project status using a computerized database and update records accurately.
  • Identify service replacements within various projects, including main replacements, redundant mains, and road construction.
  • Prepare service abandonment work order packages and update service card files in the Distribution Dispatch office.
  • Inspect pavement installations and assist with surveys such as leak surveys and rights-of-way as required.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including filing and copying, to support departmental operations.
  • Utilize BI Cast Iron Bare Steel Dashboard to document and track service renewal status and schedules.
  • Verify completed work through site visits and coordinate fitting work with SCG supervision.
  • Collaborate with SCG Project Management Team to update field work progress.
  • Schedule service renewal fitting work directly with customers and attend in-person meetings with PMT, contractors, and SCG Management.
  • Forecast Cast Iron Bare Steel workload for the Overhaul Department.
  • Prepare and assemble documentation required for state and local billing on meter services and construction projects.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance to SCG construction standards and aligned with the SCG O&M procedures.
  • Ensures Abnormal Operating Conditions (AOC) are recorded or remediated.

Required Qualifications

  • Education & Experience Required:
    • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 3 or more years’ relevant experience preferred.
    • Associate degree with a minimum of 6 or more years’ relevant experience preferred.
    • High School Diploma/GED required with 8 or more years’ relevant experience and the completion of the relevant progression program.
    • Knowledge of gas distribution construction and maintenance
    • Knowledge of industry federal and state regulations
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Certifications:
    • Valid Driver’s License
    • Will be required to obtain and maintain Operator Qualifications for natural gas
  • Skills/Abilities:
    • Results and customer service oriented.
    • Good oral and written communications skills.
    • Self-directed work skills with emphasis on multitasking.
    • Computer skills applicable to MS Word, MS Excel, SAP, MS Outlook.
    • Demonstrated supervisory skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • Must be available for response after hours to work storms, emergencies, and critical assignments.
