Job DetailsJob Location: Orange, VA 22960Position Type: Part TimeSalary Range: $18.00 HourlyPOSITION SUMMARY Assists Director of Environmental services in ensuring that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, sanitary, and comfortable manner. Performs all duties in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards governing the facility as well as established policies and procedures. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Carry linens, towels, toilet items, and cleaning supplies, using wheeled carts. Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas so that health standards are met. Empty wastebaskets and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas. Replenish supplies, such as drinking cups, linens and bathroom items. Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy. Dust and polish furniture and equipment. Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies, using vacuum cleaners. Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, waxing and polishing as necessary. Hang draperies and dust window blinds. Disinfect equipment and supplies, using germicides or steam-operated sterilizers. Observe precautions required to protect resident and facility property and report damage, theft, and found articles to supervisors. Move and arrange furniture and turn mattresses. Attend all meetings, conferences, and in-service trainings as required. Maintain resident confidentiality, treat residents with kindness, dignity, and respect, and know and comply with Residents’ Rights rules. Maintain confidentiality pertaining to facility policies, procedures, personnel, or other information received or made available in the course of job functions, communicating the minimum necessary for completion of duties. MARGINAL FUNCTIONS Exterior work, including but not limited to cleaning sidewalks and driveways, removing litter, and sweeping entrance. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS Education/Certifications: High School graduate or equivalent preferred. Skills: Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions and apply problem solving and critical thinking in performance of duties. Ability to read and understand chemical warnings on all supplies associated with the job and familiar with SDS locations for products used. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with residents/patients, staff, and family members. Must exhibit patience and a positive attitude towards the elderly population and a desire to provide a service to the community. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND REQUIREMENTS Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, bend, and reach for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently (up to 90% of the time spent in performance of duties) and up to 50 pounds occasionally (up to 10% of the time spent in performance of duties). Ability to work with chemical cleaning agents, sprays, and disinfectants as needed. Manual dexterity that allows grasping, carrying, and holding cleaning equipment and supplies as needed to perform tasks.
