Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to be based in Los Angeles or Orange, CA.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Be part of a team of ITS/Transportation Technology professionals
  • Lead, participate, & coordinate engineering production, technical deliverables, and project execution
  • Work with the ITS engineering staïŹ€ on a daily basis throughout the West Coast
  • Participate, coordinate, & lead ITS engineering projects and ITS design tasks throughout the West Coast and Greater West Regions
  • Support project delivery across the West Coast and Other US Regions
  • Support a wide range of ITS projects for freeway, arterial, transit, traïŹƒc signal, safety, communications, NS tolling systems as well as digital services, AI, and emerging technologies delivery
  • Analyze/identify how best to integrate various systems to optimize effectiveness, operations, and staff resources as well as minimize costs 
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with AECOM co-workers across Business Lines
  • Assist or lead in proposal eïŹ€orts for various ITS project pursuits
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS and 6 years + experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in Engineering degree.
  • 10+ years of relevant ITS and Transportation Engineering experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Expertise with ITS Systems Engineering (Needs Definition, Concept-of-Operations, System Requirements, Alternatives Analysis, etc.)
  • Expertise with High-Level Architectures, Designs, & Plans
  • Experience with Communication Networks and Systems Design for data and video, both wireless and ïŹber optic designs
  • Proven California project experience and relationships (people, systems, and Agencies)
  • Strong background in ITS design, emerging transportation technologies, and Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO)
  • Must be highly self-motivated with the ability to successfully multi-task, perform detail-oriented work, work independently, and demonstrate eïŹ€ective time management skills
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to write concise and readable technical reports, documents, memorandums, and/or presentations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to discuss projects with AECOM co-workers and Clients
  • Hands-on experience working on Teams and working with Public Sector Clients
  • California PE license
  • Proficiency in the ITS Architecture Process
  • ITS Design/PS&E skills
  • Hands-on System Integration experience
  • 5+ years of job-related experience in California, Nevada, Oregon, or Washington
