Overview
The Project Manager, Infrastructure Buildout is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of infrastructure deployment projects across multiple sites and stakeholders. This role manages end-to-end project activities including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, vendor coordination, risk management, and cross-functional communication to ensure successful infrastructure buildouts delivered on time and within budget.

The ideal candidate has experience managing large-scale infrastructure, construction, network, data center, telecom, industrial, or facilities-related projects in fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution

  • Lead infrastructure buildout projects from initiation through completion.

  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, milestones, and resource requirements.

  • Define project scope, deliverables, budgets, and timelines in collaboration with stakeholders.

  • Manage multiple concurrent projects with varying complexity and timelines.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Coordinate with internal teams including engineering, operations, procurement, IT, facilities, and finance.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for contractors, vendors, consultants, and external partners.

  • Serve as primary liaison with the General Contractor (GC), architect, and engineer of record on schedule, scope, and field coordination.

  • Reconcile GC construction schedule against internal engineering, procurement, and DCO commissioning milestones to maintain a single, unified critical path.

  • Facilitate regular project status meetings and provide executive-level reporting.

  • Ensure vendor deliverables meet contractual, quality, and timeline expectations.

Budget & Risk Management

  • Track project budgets, forecasts, change orders, and expenditures.

  • Identify project risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategies.

  • Escalate critical issues proactively and drive resolution.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and operational standards.

Infrastructure Delivery

  • Oversee site readiness, permitting, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning activities.

  • Review and interpret GC-provided schedules (Primavera P6 or other); integrate critical path activities into the master program schedule to surface cross-workstream dependencies and risk to key milestones.

  • Track long-lead equipment (generators, switchgear, chillers, UPS systems) to prevent critical path delays, partnering with GC scheduler.

  • Monitor construction/buildout progress and coordinate issue resolution in real time.

  • Ensure infrastructure deployments align with technical specifications and operational requirements.

  • Support transition to operations and post-deployment handoff processes.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, schedules, and reporting dashboards.

  • Prepare executive summaries, project updates, and post-project reviews.

  • Drive continuous improvement in project management methodologies and processes.

Experience & Qualifications
Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Information Technology, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience managing infrastructure, facilities, telecom, construction, or technical deployment projects.

  • Proven experience managing cross-functional teams and third-party vendors.

  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools.

  • Experience managing budgets, schedules, and resource planning.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • PMP, CAPM, or equivalent project management certification.

  • Experience with data center, network infrastructure, fiber, utilities, or large-scale deployment programs.

  • Familiarity with permitting, compliance, and construction management processes.

  • Experience using tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, or Asana; ability to read, interpret, and reconcile GC-provided Primavera P6 schedules.

  • Knowledge of Agile and/or Waterfall project delivery methodologies.

  • OSHA 10/30 certification, or willingness to obtain.
