Screw Machine Operator

2^nd Shift; 2:45pm-11:15pm, Monday – Friday

Hourly rate $24.00 - $29.00/hour DOE plus 10% shift differential

Ability to work overtime during the week and Saturdays as needed

RESPONSIBILITY:

Operates one or more, typically two, six spindle screw machines.

JOB DUTIES:

Bench sets collets, feed tubes, feed fingers, drills, and cross side tools.
Changes collets, bushings, and feed fingers in stock feeding mechanism.
Changes gears, stops, and cams (if necessary).
Inspects tools and compares to tool layout verifying all tools and tool holders using various gauges.
Adjusts tools to bring parts into conformance with print, submits first piece for inspection and starts machine.
Replaces worn tools and sharpens cut off blades.
Loads bar stock into bar feed mechanism.
Performs routine maintenance checks (lube level, cutting oil level, etc.).
Notifies Lead if tooling is getting low.
Keep machines and area clean and orderly.
Weigh parts accurately.
Empty and spin chips.
Notify lead person or technical advisor if job is not producing.
Fill out time slip completely and accurately.
Perform parts inspections in accordance with Quality Procedure

REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.
Strong mechanical aptitude.

Proficiency in basic math such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing, fractions, and decimals.
Ability to lift and carry 15 ft. bars (60 pounds max.).
Ability to stand 75% of the shift.
Ability to communicate and work well with others.

Prior lathe experience.

Ability to read blueprints.
Ability to use calipers and micrometer.
