Description

SurfacePrep is hiring a Shipping & Receiving Associate in Orchard Park, NY. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys staying active, keeping things organized, and making sure products arrive and leave the facility accurately and on time.


You’ll be a key part of our daily operation, receiving incoming materials, preparing customer orders, maintaining accurate records, and coordinating product movement throughout the facility. If you take ownership of your work and enjoy variety in your day, we’d like to meet you.

What You’ll Do

  • Receive, inspect, and unload incoming shipments manually or with pallet jacks and forklifts.
  • Verify the quantity and quality of received materials against purchase orders.
  • Record received materials accurately in the computer system.
  • Pull resale items from stock and match them to customer orders and paperwork.
  • Match manufactured products to picking sheets and prepare complete shipments.
  • Package items securely using appropriate containers, fillers, spacers, and protective materials.
  • Create shipping labels and enter shipment information using company and carrier systems.
  • Select shipment methods using established shipping procedures, rates, and routes.
  • Inspect outgoing shipments for accuracy and conformance with requirements.
  • Document shortages, damages, returns, and stock discrepancies and communicate issues promptly.
  • Stock shelves, assist with inventory counts, and store, retrieve, or deliver materials throughout the facility.
  • Notify customers when pickup orders are ready and coordinate with internal departments.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping and receiving area.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to read packing slips, purchase orders, bills of lading, invoices, and shipping or receiving labels.
  • Basic computer skills and comfort learning order-processing and shipping systems.
  • Strong organization, accuracy, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Forklift experience or certification preferred, but not required.
  • Dependable attendance and a positive, customer-focused attitude.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

To perform the essential functions of this position, the employee must be able to:

  • Frequently lift, carry, and position materials weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Stand for prolonged periods and frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, and pull.
  • Use hands and feet frequently for material handling and equipment operation.
  • Work safely around forklifts, pallet jacks, moving equipment, and occasional vibration.
  • Work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with exposure to dust, airborne particles, adhesives, some chemicals, and moderate noise.
  • Wear and properly use all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
