The Tutor provides individualized and small-group academic support to students in order to strengthen academic skills, improve understanding of instructional content, and promote student achievement. The Tutor works collaboratively with teachers and school administration to reinforce classroom instruction and provide targeted assistance based on student needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized and small-group tutoring to students in assigned academic areas.
  • Reinforce concepts and skills taught by classroom teachers.
  • Assist students with classwork, assignments, projects, and other academic activities.
  • Provide additional practice and instruction to support student learning and academic growth.
  • Utilize instructional materials and strategies appropriate to each student's academic needs.
  • Monitor student progress and communicate concerns or areas of improvement to the appropriate teacher or administrator.
  • Maintain a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Encourage students to develop effective study habits, organization skills, and independent learning strategies.
  • Follow lesson plans, instructional guidelines, and school procedures.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure tutoring activities align with current instruction.
  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, student participation, and progress as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and academic performance.
  • Promote appropriate student behavior and follow all school safety and supervision procedures.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.

The Tutor works primarily in a school setting and may provide support in classrooms, tutoring areas, portable classrooms, or other designated instructional spaces. The position may require standing, walking, sitting, and working directly with students for extended periods.
