Position Summary

Department: Orlando Health Ambulatory - Outpatient Rehab

Status: Full-Time | 40 hours per week

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

Position Summary

The Ambulatory Rehab Access Coordinator is an advanced position in the rehab clinic front office, responsible for patient scheduling, registration, and benefits management at the clinic level with advanced knowledge of medical billing, complex service scheduling, and communications across clinics and other departments within the organization.

What you will do

  • Responsible for day-to-day front office duties including pre-registration, registration, and scheduling of multiple patient appointments. Contacts appropriate payors/provider offices, verifying benefits, and obtaining/documenting necessary authorizations.
  • Demonstrates a positive and professional approach and always communicates effectively with customers and team members.
  • Maintains basic understanding of the medical needs during the screening process for scheduling an appointment.
  • Consistently reviews the schedules daily and communicates all changes to appropriate staff, demonstrating ownership of access to appointments.
  • Identifies and assists leadership with process improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborates across ambulatory rehab clinics to ensure top patient customer service.
  • Completes additional projects/departmental activities, as assigned by leadership.
  • Assists in training or mentoring of all team members.
  • Performs the duties of a system super user.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Regularly communicates with patients and clinicians regarding registration and scheduling issues.
  • Takes a proactive role in problem resolution.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent.
  • 2 years of healthcare front office experience in verifications of benefits and insurance authorization, patient registration, and scheduling. Associated degree in business, information systems, clinical field, or related may be substituted for one year of experience.
