Automation Engineering Technician

Position Summary

You in this Role Are responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, programming, and optimizing automated manufacturing equipment used in the production of drone motors. This role supports robotic assembly systems, PLC-controlled machinery, automated testing stations, and material handling equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Program, troubleshoot, and optimize FANUC robotic systems used in drone motor assembly, winding, balancing, testing, and material handling processes.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment, HMIs, sensors, servo drives, and automated production systems.
  • Support automated assembly lines by diagnosing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and control system failures.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on robotic cells and automation equipment to maximize uptime.
  • Monitor production equipment performance and implement improvements to increase throughput, reliability, and product quality.
  • Modify and update robot programs, PLC logic, and HMI interfaces to support process changes and new product introductions.
  • Assist with commissioning, installation, and startup of new automation systems and production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot industrial communication networks including Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, and Profinet.
  • Support automated testing and quality inspection systems used in drone motor manufacturing.
  • Analyze recurring equipment issues and implement root-cause corrective actions.
  • Maintain backups of robot programs, PLC code, and automation documentation.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, maintenance personnel, and production teams to improve process efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and company standards.

What You’ll Bring

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Automation Technology, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Robotics, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting FANUC industrial robots.
  • Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and ladder logic.
  • Knowledge of servo systems, motion control, sensors, vision systems, and industrial automation equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Experience supporting high-volume automated manufacturing operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in drone, aerospace, electric motor, automotive, or electronics manufacturing.
  • FANUC Robot Operator or Programming Certification.
  • Experience with automated assembly and testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
  • Familiarity with machine vision systems and robotic integration.
