State-of-the-art pediatric services are provided by a comprehensive staff that includes pediatric subspecialty physicians and a nursing team that is “Magnet” recognized for nursing excellence and high-quality patient care. The hospital also has earned national recognition for 12 consecutive years as a “Best Children’s Hospitals” by U.S. News & World Report and was included, together with Orlando Health ORMC, in the IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals® list for 2021.

 

Position Summary
Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children
Mobile ICU is seeking Critical Care Transportor Provides safe transfer of patients to local facilities, discharges and outlying facilities.

 

Shift: (VFT, Days) 


Responsibilities

Essential Functions


ď‚· Documentation of each transfer to include: type of transfer and destination of patient being transported.
ď‚· Communicates appropriate patient information with RN/RRT/Paramedic when transfer is by ambulance on the appropriate run sheet.
ď‚· Demonstrates competency in advanced unit specific tasks and skills as defined by unit specific competency list.
 Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient’s condition to the RN and other members of the healthcare team.
ď‚· Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
ď‚· Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.


Other Related Functions


ď‚· Maintains a calm courteous manner with all patients, co-workers and other contacts.
ď‚· Maintains a clean and safe working environment within confines of the department/ambulance.
ď‚· Assists RN/RRT/Paramedic in supply and stocking of all ALS units
ď‚· Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
 Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures.


Qualifications

Education/Training


ď‚· High school graduate or equivalent
ď‚· Successful completion of Emergency Medical Technician program from approved/accredited Department of Transportation (DOT) program. May also be a graduate of an additional paramedic program.


Licensure/Certification


 Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license or Paramedic (PMD) license in the State of Florida –renewed every two (2) years.
ď‚· Maintain current Basic life support certification (BLS).
 Emergency Vehicle Operator’s Certificate (EVOC) certification.
 Valid Florida driver’s license with no more than six (6) points, at least 21 years of age, and must be insurable under the
Orlando Health Insurance carrier’s requirements and standards.


Experience


One (1) year of ambulance driving experience and/or Fire Department experience.
